Well I haven’t gotten much done lately – been working on the website, or some art stuff. I’ve got about four projects I’m working on currently–
Ceremonial Leia v.2 – Since the pattern I bought back in August has apparently disappeared into the black hole that is my sewing room, I bought another one and got it cut out, and night before last did the darts, and last night put the basic pieces together. However, I sewed the front side of the skirt on wrong side out. D’oh. Instead of taking the whole thing apart (because it was a pain to sew together all those long skirt pieces with 4 layers of slippery fabric, I’m just going to take the darts out and re-do them on the inside, since there’s no wrong or right side to the fabric. In my search for the original pattern, I came across several yards of white chiffon. I have no idea what it’s from, but I might use it for the sleeves, if there’s enough.
Padme’s Steel Blue Nightgown – still where I left it several weeks ago. One drape is hemmed, one side of pearls is done. I have hemmed the bottom since then, but I still need to hem the top, the other drape, and make the other 3 strands of pearls and attach all that stuff…
Belle – I finally found a pink fabric I like. I want to get this done pretty soon… but I don’t know if I’ll have time to get it done before Christmas. Who knows. It’s not that important, I only wanted to get some Christmas-y shots with it.
Lois Lane – I bought my fabric a while back as I said, and I came across a pattern that is extremely close on the top. Score. I’m going to go get some $1 yard fabric this weekend and put it together with that. I want to get started on this above all others, since I’ll have some beading to do.
When I went to the fabric store this past weekend, I had a 40% off one item coupon, which I used on my pink fabric, and all of the McCall’s patterns were 99 cents. So it ended up being like, $27 something, with all the fabric, and 4 patterns. I was thinking, that’s not bad. Then the register messed up, and took off all of the coupons and discounts. It was easily fixable and nothing had been charged to me yet, but I got to see how much my 7 yds of fabric and 4 patterns would have been without that coupon and sale on patterns – $96!! So it just goes to show how nice pattern sales and coupons and stuff are. LOL
